Alloys Resin

When speaking of thermoplastics, alloy refers to a material made up of two or more plastic materials that are compounded together. This is different from copolymer and terpolymer materials.

Alloys typically exhibit properties from each of the constituents. A few common alloys are:

Polycarbonate/ABS Alloy

This alloy has most of the properties of ABS but has much higher impact strength due to the polycarbonate.

Polycarbonate/Polyester Alloy

This alloy has the chemical resistance of the polyester along with excellent impact strength due to the polycarbonate.

Polycarbonate/ASA Alloy

This alloy has excellent UV stability along with excellent impact strength.

There are also lesser known alloys such as Nylon/Polyphenylene Oxide/Polystryrene and ABS/Nylon.

The typical brands of alloys offered by Midwest Resins are:

  • MRC Polymers Naxaloy Polycarbonate Alloys
  • Lotte Chemical Starex ABS Alloys
  • Lotte Chemical Infino Polycarbonate Alloys
